T-Beams

FRP T-beams have one flange and one web (forming a “T” cross-section). These pultruded sections combine good bending strength (like an I-beam, but single flange) with very low weight. They are often used where a wide support flange is needed on one side only.

Key Features

  • Efficient section for one-sided support (e.g. floor edge or roof overhang)
  • All the benefits of FRP composites (corrosion-proof, insulative)
  • Lighter than equivalent steel T-beams (simplifies handling)

Benefits

  • Provides support for roof or deck perimeters without duplicate flanges
  • No heavy counterbalance needed like in metal (lighter around edges)
  • Resists corrosion on all faces (unlike painted steel angles)

Applications

  • Support beams at ledges or awnings (flange on the platform side)
  • Structural framing in walkways, mezzanines, or small bridges
  • Header supports in FRP fences or gates (replaces steel L-angles with one lip)

Technical Specifications

  • Flange width typically 20–100 mm; web depth similar
  • Weight depends on resin and glass content (~1–5 kg/m)

Unique Selling Points (USPs)

  • Cost-effective for asymmetric loads (saves material versus full I-beam)
  • Can be joined end-to-end seamlessly (pultruded coupling standard)
