Deck Panels

FRP deck panels are pultruded flooring panels designed for walkways and platforms. They incorporate a hollow core with reinforcing ribs for high stiffness. As EPP Composites notes, FRP deck panels exhibit “good corrosion and weather resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, non-conductive & non-magnetic, highly durable…”. These panels come with optional non-slip surfaces and yellow safety edges. Compared to steel grating, FRP decks are lighter, non-sparking, and never rust.

Key Features

  • Pultruded hollow-core design with internal ribs (maximizes stiffness)
  • Corrosion-proof (fiberglass with UV-stable resin)
  • Slip-resistant surfaces and bright safety edges available
  • Non-conductive, non-magnetic (ideal for electrical substation walkways)

Benefits

  • Significantly lighter than steel or concrete decks (reduces support structure needs)
  • Requires zero maintenance (no painting or coating)
  • Excellent electrical insulation (safe near energized equipment)
  • Drains water readily (fiberglass does not trap moisture)

Applications

  • Catwalks, mezzanines and stair treads in industrial facilities
  • Floor panels in chemical plants, offshore platforms, parking structures
  • Cover plates for trenches or ducting (light and easily removable)
  • Bridge footpaths and marina docks (resistant to saltwater)

Technical Specifications

  • Panel widths typically 300 mm (ASTM D3917 standard)
  • Thickness per design (e.g. 30–50 mm total depth)
  • Can support specified loads per ASTM D3917/D638 (pull tests confirm deck strength)

Unique Selling Points (USPs)

  • Combines structural deck and grating in one (fills, no holes to trip)
  • Aesthetically consistent (no rust or flaking, can be color-matched)
