Key Features
- Fiberglass Construction: Entire valve body and blade made of FRP or FRP-lined components.
- Sealed Design: Elastomeric seals or PTFE edges ensure tight shutoff for diverting flows.
- Actuation: Can be manual (handwheel) or actuated (pneumatic or electric).
- Low Torque: Lightweight FRP results in lower actuation torque than steel.
Benefits
- Corrosion-Free Operation: FRP dampers last much longer than metal ones in FGD atmosphere.
- Balanced Control: Precisely control gas bypasses or distribute gas in multistage scrubbers.
- Safety: Non-sparking FRP reduces ignition risk; chemical inertness protects against process leaks.
Applications
Used in FGD systems at the absorber inlet/outlet, in bypass stacks, or to isolate scrubber units. Also in duct diversion to by-pass scrubbers or reroute gas during maintenance. FRP knife gates and butterfly dampers prevent corrosion in humid, acidic flue gas vents.
Technical Specifications
- Pressure Class: Typically designed for ±1″ w.g. to +10″ w.g. (depending on system pressure).
- Flange Standards: ANSI or DIN flange drilling for integration with FRP duct.
- Finish: Spray-coated or gelcoated for UV and abrasion protection.
Unique Selling Points
We provide FRP damper valves rated for FGD environments. Systech Design notes that FRP dampers are “vital” for corrosive fume applications. Our dampers use FRP blades and housings, eliminating all contact of metal with the gas. We offer knife gate, butterfly, and slide gate styles, all optimized for low-profile installation in FRP ducting.
