FRP Baffle Walls

FRP Baffle Walls are prefabricated fiberglass panels used to partition tanks and control flow patterns in water and wastewater treatment processes. These panels are typically installed between compartments of clarifiers, reactors, or collection sumps to direct fluids, prevent short-circuiting, and allow solids to settle or be skimmed off effectively. Made via vacuum-infusion or pultrusion, FRP baffles are very strong yet lightweight. They resist corrosion, rot and microbial attack that would quickly degrade wood or metal baffles in sewage environments. FRP baffles can be solid or slotted/perforated for flow-through, and are mounted on frames or support channels (also FRP or stainless steel). Because FRP is rigid and stable, baffles maintain vertical alignment under flow pressure, ensuring designed flow paths remain intact. In short, FRP Baffle Walls offer a superior, long-lasting solution for dividing tanks in STPs.

Key Features

  • Corrosion-Resistant Panels: All-FRP construction resists chemical attack and will not rot or corrode, even in raw sewage conditions.
  • Easy to Install: Lightweight panels and bracketry allow quick assembly; often simply bolted together on-site without specialized tools.
  • Modular Design: Panels available in standard heights (e.g. 6–10 ft) and widths, which can be field-cut or sequenced to fill any tank dimensions.
  • Perforated/Slotted Options: Flow-through baffles allow water passage but guide distribution; perforated baffles can act as trash screens.
  • 316 Stainless Hardware: All fasteners and supports specified in 316 SS for compatibility with FRP and long-term durability.
  • Low Profile: Slim panel thickness minimizes loss of settling volume in tanks.

Benefits

  • Zero Maintenance: Unlike wood or steel, FRP baffles require no painting or replacement. They are impervious to cracking or warping.
  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Proven performance in wastewater, requiring no concrete anchors or paint to protect the structure.
  • Structural Strength: Vacuum-infused/pultruded panels have higher fiber content and strength than traditional materials, resisting deflection.
  • Flow Control Efficiency: Precisely placed baffles direct flow evenly, improving sedimentation efficiency and reducing short-circuiting of sludge.
  • Safety: Non-conductive, flame-retardant panel construction improves personnel safety during operation and maintenance.

Applications

  • Settling Tanks and Clarifiers: Separation walls in primary clarifiers, secondary settlers, DAF units and skimming tanks.
  • Equalization Basins: Flow dividing walls to ensure uniform detention time.
  • Flocculation & Contact Basins: Baffles that guide flow in chemical mix/settle tanks.
  • Submerged Screening: Supports or guides for traveling screens in inlet channels (with open slots).
  • Retrofitting: Replacing deteriorated wooden or concrete baffles in existing plants.

Technical Specifications

  • Material: Typically pultruded FRP with isophthalic polyester or vinylester resin; thickness ~5–10 mm.
  • Height: Standard 6–12 ft panels; larger heights built in sections.
  • Perforations: Slot or hole patterns customizable (for example, 1″ slots at specified spacing) as required for equal flow distribution.
  • Support Frames: All-FRP U-channels or angle framing that fasten to the structure; provided with foam gaskets for sealing.
  • Load Rating: Designed for flow velocities up to ~0.5 m/s without movement; stiffeners added if needed for high head.
  • Certifications: Manufactured under ISO 9001 QA system; panels test-certified per ASTM methods for deflection and strength, if specified.

Unique Selling Points (USPs)

  • Industry-Leading Panels: Using vacuum infusion yields baffles with up to 60–70% glass content, unmatched corrosion resistance, and high stiffness.
  • Customized Solutions: We will tailor baffle thickness, panel width, and hole patterns to your specific hydraulic requirements.
  • Integrated Mounting: Optional design of an all-composite support structure (rails and brackets) that is chemically matched and eliminates dissimilar-material corrosion.
  • Proven Performance: Our FRP baffles are used in challenging environments, including brine and acid pre-treatment, demonstrating reliability.
  • Complete System Approach: We engineer the entire baffling scheme (location, size, opening patterns) for maximum treatment efficiency, not just supply off-the-shelf panels.
