FRP Absorption Towers

The FRP absorption tower is the core vessel of a wet FGD scrubber. Here, exhaust gas rises through the tower and contacts the scrubbing liquid (often sprayed or packed), absorbing pollutants. FRP towers are fiberglass-reinforced plastic columns built to resist the corrosive environment of flue gas desulfurization. They may contain internals like packing, trays or bubble headers to maximize gas-liquid contact. FRP’s structural strength allows towers to be very tall and wide with thin walls, optimizing space and flow. These towers often have FRP flanges, manways and access platforms integrated into the design.
