Drain Channels

FRP drain channels are specially designed gutter and trench channel sections made of fiberglass composite. These channels quickly gain popularity over concrete or steel due to their durability. As one composite manufacturer explains, FRP drain channels offer “exceptional durability” and are “immune to corrosion,” even under thermal shock. They flex slightly under load (avoiding cracking like concrete) and handle aggressive chemicals without deterioration.

Key Features

  • Fiberglass-reinforced (high flexural strength with some flexibility)
  • Chemically inert (resists acids, alkalis, salts, oils)
  • Lightweight, yet can carry heavy wheel loads when properly supported

Benefits

  • Will not rust or corrode in wet or saline environments
  • Safer to handle (no sharp rusty edges) and quicker to install (light sections)
  • Long life without maintenance (no spalling or rebar corrosion as in concrete)

Applications

  • Grated trench drains in factories, parks, or roadways
  • Acid/chemical drainage systems in laboratories and refineries
  • Wastewater collection trenches (no hydrogen sulfide attack)

Technical Specifications

  • Conforms to ASTM D3753 / EN 1433 for load classes (depending on design)
  • Typical channel widths 50–300 mm, depths to suit flow, custom grate patterns

Unique Selling Points (USPs)

  • Consistent performance in freeze-thaw cycles (flexible composite avoids cracking)
  • Custom lengths and slope on request (unlike fixed precast)
